6 strange/weird things May 24, 2007

Len tagged me for this a few days back and I have struggled to think, so have come up with a list that hopefully does the job!
1) I have had 2 strange youthwork related injuries – a broken foot by kicking a bowling ball and a broken finger when picking up a sponge ball (long story!!)
2) I can sing the child’s song “How much is that doggie in the window” backwards in less than 5 seconds.
3) When concentrating I stick my tongue out! (Felt bad about this until I saw Michael Jordan do it every time he drove to the basket)
4) When over-tired my snoring breaks the decibel counter – not good for mission trips!
5) I am supposedly English and I do not like to drink tea, will only drink it to be polite.
6) I have a brick which I rescued when they demolished the old Boston Garden and have some dust (in a plastic box) which was swept from under the parquet floor of the old Garden.

The sponsorship is coming along ok but not as well as I had hoped (feel free www.justgiving.com/roy2007 ) but I will finish this thing and make it two out of two. The adrenaline is pumping and want to make it happen.

Makes you realise that there are so many hidden things, right under our noses, that have value, may be helpful and even just surprising. Sounds daft, but found it quite a personal challenge to look more closely at what was around me.
talk about hyped May 4, 2007

talk about being hyped up, am so pumped that I cannot even think of getting sleep right now. From my previous posts you will know that I am fairly excited about Liverpool FC but that pales into insignificance compared to my love of the Boston Celtics basketball team. Yes, they have had a bad season but we will get a decent lottery pick this year and should have a decent team……but the great news is that on 10th October they will be playing in the O2 arena in London, in a pre-season and I have my ticket booked!!! They are playing the Timberwolves so it may be that Celtic legend, Kevin McHale, may also be there. It will be the first time I have seen them play in 8 years and I need a time machine to get me there NOW! My Larry Bird vest is getting dusted down and my cap will be washed, for this will be a day to remember. Hope you get the message……I AM EXCITED!
most like to meet? May 2, 2007

who would you most like to meet? A question that I have been asked twice recently and each time I gave a different answer. It was different because of the context. Here are 5 people I would love to meet for just half an hour (ok, so some are not alive, but if they were!):
Youthwork related: Doug Fields, because his books have inspired me and I believe he would sharpen my ministry mind
Church Leader: John Sentamu, because his approach to life and faith inspires me
Leadership Guru:John Maxwell, because he would challenge me
Famous Musician: Freddie Mercury, because he was larger than life
Famous Politician: Margaret Thatcher, because she shaped many a generation and I would love to know what makes her tick
Blogger: Len Evans, because he is a sound guy with heart
Sportsman: Larry Bird, because he worked hard, sacrificed and gave himself for the team
