We all long to have a place we call home, a place where we belong and a place where we can ‘be ourselves’.
For the first 20years of my life, home was in Liverpool – it is still a city that I love……but it is no longer home.
These days my place of belonging is London…..it is a different city but one that is home. In the days of trouble, my memories remind me (falsely) of the calm and serene days back in Liverpool – the truth is that, wherever I am, there will be days of trouble. The issue to address is whether I am prepared to work through the problems and release the hope of a better future.
London is home…..and despite some of the light and momentary troubles…..is the place that I belong.

The truth is……unlikely!  There may be opportunities for basic functionality but for any team to progress to its full potential, team members need to be able to trust one another.  When things are running well and smoothly, the cracks can be hidden but as soon as difficulties or problems surface the inability of team members to trust one another will hold back the team.

Trust can be learned, mastered and developed….work on it – if not you will suffer in the mire known as the absence of trust.

Its playoff season and the time where he Celtics have historically shown their ability to play good ball. The last 5years have been great but as the team ramps up for a final run with the current big 3 – it is a long shot for a banner. However, we have counted them out before and every fan knows that they will give everything. That is why the Boston Celtics are my team – Go Celtics!

Each day of our lives is like a new building block on the foundation of our childhood. We can build whatever we choose, in whatever way we want – yet what do we choose? What is it we seek to complete?
An athlete knows that he seeks the finish line, to beat the competition and to wear the victors crown. What about your life – what do you hope to achieve? What are you seeking? What are you building?

One of the young people from my old youth group gets married tomorrow – so pleased and hoping for a good day.

These conversations are interesting and usually display the individuals lack of self confidence as they are unable to make a statement or request without supporting evidence.  It happens regularly which may demonstrate that there are many people who lack confidence.

Have confidence in your own opinion. Have belief in your own convictions.  It is more powerful that way.

Looking at our history is important as it provides a source of identity, a place to belong in the narrative of life and can provide insight in to avoiding pitfalls.
However, when our history is used to constrict us, hold us back, prevent growth or forward movement, it becomes anathema.
Work hard at getting a right balance, it will pay dividends
